New Weeds of National Significance

Several species have been recently added to the national register of Weeds of National Significance [1] (WoNS), greatly increasing the  number of plant species currently recognised as nationally significant threats within Australia.

The new WoNS are:

African Boxthorn

Sagittaria

Asparagus weeds (several species)

Bellyache bush

Scotch Broom

Montpellier Broom

Flax Leaf Broom

Cat's claw creeper

Fireweed

Gamba Grass

Madeira vine

Opuntioid cacti (several species)

Silverleaf Nightshade

Water Hyacinth
