Applications for Community Action Grants round now open
Community Action Grants are a small grants component of the Australian Government's Caring for our Country initiative that aims to help local community groups take action to conserve and protect their natural environment.
Small Grants Available for Community Groups
The second round of Communities in Landscapes Community Small Grants is open for applications!
Grants of up to $3000 (inc. GST) are available for community groups to run small projects in Box Gum Grassy Woodland areas.

Private Land Conservation Grants
The Small Grants Program of the Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife welcomes funding proposals for nature conservation projects across Australia.
Who can apply?
Small grants of up to $3,000 are available for nature conservation projects in three categories. Not all categories may be awarded in each funding round.

Since 2008 Coles has been providing School Garden Grants of up to $1,000 to schools and youth groups to help create gardens in their grounds or community, such as bush tucker gardens, water wise gardens or veggie gardens.

Precision Agriculture Workshops
Following CANFA's Annual Conference in Dubbo, three precision agriculture workshops will be held in:
High Security Irrigators Farm Security and Efficiency Workshops
During June 2011, High Security Irrigators – Murrumbidgee will present a number of workshops throughout the Murrumbidgee and Lachlan Irrigation Areas targeting those interested in improving farm efficiency and sustainability. This project is supported by funding from the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry under FarmReady, part of Australia’s Farming Future.
NSW Landcare Forum
Head to Parkes for the 2011 NSW Landcare and Catchment Management Forum and the NSW Landcare Awards. Parkes and Districts Landcare will host the 2011 NSW Landcare & Catchment Management Forum in Parkes from the 5-7 September 2011.
Free compost available
Cargill Beef Australia are offering free composting material to landholders, for use on rural/agricultural land.
Cargill are able to supply 200 t per year, and have offered to supply the material free of charge to interested landholders.

CANFA's Annual Conference will be held at the Dubbo RSL with the Annual Dinner and CFOTY Award ceremony to be held at the Cattleman’s Country Motor Inn later that same day.
Schools Tree Day
Now entering its 16th year, Planet Ark’s National Tree Day is firmly cemented as one of the nation’s largest community environmental events. National Tree Day provides an avenue for communities and groups to showcase the work that they do, help foster a community understanding of the needs of the local environment and to engage them in the care and protection of these surroundings. This year National Tree Day will be held on Sunday July 31st and Schools Tree Day on Friday July 29th – however you may register a site or activity on any day that suits you.

National Threatened Species Day
National Threatened Species Day (NTSD) is held on 7 September each year - commemorating the death of the last Tasmanian tiger at Hobart Zoo in 1936. Events are held nationally throughout September - Biodiversity Month. Australia's landscapes and species have been severely impacted by over 200 years of habitat loss and fragmentation.

The USA/Mexico trip itinerary is getting more interesting by the day as we continue to make contact with fellow no-tillers and researchers in the USA and Mexico.
