CMA mailing list: presumption or paranoia?

I have received an email from our CSO addressed to UMLC.Executive.Committee@dnr.nsw.gov.au. I assume the email address is a mailing list or redirection which would require the assistance and approval of the CMA techos to set up and was done without the approval of the committee.

Once set up, it would give the CMA at large (rather than just our CSO) access to the UMLC Exec Committee via email and I believe its use in this way would be contrary to privacy guidelines.

Regardless, I object to the use of this address as it could be perceived that the UMLC Exec Committee is a government organisation.

Has anyone else seen a mailing list like this established?

What do others think? Am I being paranoid?
